WE’RE HERE FOR THE
MOMENTs after
origin of sandbagger
SO THE STORY BEGINS
Bar-owner by trade and entrepreneur by instinct, William (Bill) Rowan had a knack for good taste and a nose for opportunity. When not running the Office Restaurant and Bar, he could be found on the golf course. A middling player unsaddled by ambition, Bill would wrap his rounds refreshed by a Sandbagger cocktail composed of gin, citrus and sweet – while trading in postgame pokes and digs with friends or over a game of Euchre in the clubhouse.
FROM ONE SANDBAGGER TO ANOTHER
Arriving at a more refined version of the original began with sourcing a local distilled gin. The signature taste demands the natural sweetness of cane sugar to better frame the understated citrus and lightly effervescent finish. The result is a ready to drink cocktail that goes down smooth and tasty, from first sip to final drop.
OPPORTUNITY CALLS
Bill’s game may not have progressed, but the Sandbagger cocktail gained fame at local bars and clubhouses. That’s when Bill saw the potential to possibly market it as a drink, so he trademarked the Sandbagger name. It proved a savvy move, though Bill never got around to developing it.
His son has inherited the trademarks and took on the project as a way to honour his late father.
